Nutrition Tips From John Berardi

Tip #9
Mood Eating
by Dr. John Berardi

Most people eat based on their mood and/or some subjective feelings of hunger. They don’t eat based on what their bodies need. Think of it this way: you’re about to take a long drive on a stretch of highway with no gas station. Do you fail to stop for gas before you hit the road because you’re ‘not in the mood?’ Of course not. Think of eating in the same way. Eating fuels your metabolic engine. So it’s time to start feeling like eating so that you can stop feeling like you’re scrawny.

Fat Loss Quotes

“You can’t out-train a bad diet”

I heard this great quote a while ago. I don”t know who first said it but the quote itself is worth remembering.

It basically means that no matter how hard you are training, it is very difficult to accomplish your body goals if you are eating poorly. As always there are exceptions to this but it is a good guide to go by.

Exercise Is Not Enough

You might be training hard but if you don’t get your nutrition on track, it is highly unlikely that you will get the fat loss results that you are after. A number of studies have indicated that although important training by itself is not particularly effective in changing body composition. The bottom line is that if you want to lose fat you should combine good nutrition with appropriate exercise.
